I have been coaching since Under 8's and currently completing my FA Level 2 Coaching Badge. Our aim is trying to make our team a great place to play and to hopefully play great! The first requirement of being with us, is to enjoy being part of the team; it is a game and a game is meant to be enjoyed.
From here we look at providing the right environment for the players to develop as people and then as footballers. I appreciate we play an important role in young players growing up and that’s why we consider all parts of their personal development using the Four Corners model from the FA.
The boys have also created our own team Code of Conduct so they understand how to value themselves, and treat teammates and opponents alike.
We aim to play football in the right way by getting the ball, passing and moving, making good decisions whilst not forgetting to let the players show their creativity and take responsibilities in the sessions.
We at no point focus on winning games as the day that comes will be the first day we stop concentrating on what’s important, which is the enjoyment then development of our players.
Our team focus after every game is “Stars and Wishes” – what we’ve done well and what we want to try and do better next time. Within every game/session there are individual and team successes to build on. Hopefully this creates a great environment and allows us to keep this wonderful privilege which is coaching and helping our next generation.
We have made some fantastic memories along our journey as a team, we have played at St Georges Park as Under 8s, and also had an experience day there as Under 10s, we have taken part in flag bearing at Stoke City as under 8s and again as Under 9s, we also won the PJYL Cup and the PJYL special Achievement Trophy as Under 9s, and as Under 11s we were finalists in the PJYL Sub Cup and have taken part in play on the pitch at Stoke City FC. We also try and get the boys together to have some fun and have taken part in bowling, glow football and football golf.
We have also carried out fund raising where we have raised funds for Breast Cancer.
Also a huge thank you to all of our players, parents, MWS as a club, league, referees, sponsors etc. for supporting us and helping with the team. It helps to make an extremely rewarding but difficult job much easier.
Many thanks to the following sponsors -
